VOLUNTEER HOURS

Volunteer hours are a requirement per family, not per player.

Why the need for volunteer hours?

The Moscow Baseball Association (MBA) relies on its members volunteering to allow the organization to run with as little overhead as possible. Setting a requirement for a minimum number of service hours ensures that the various responsibilities can be spread out among the association’s families, which not only allows opportunities for participation and ownership, but helps keep registration fees down. Our collective goal is to provide our kids with a great baseball experience!

Alternate option to volunteer hours – Volunteer hours buy-out:

For those members who might have more financial resources than time, MBA allows for a buy-out of $100 in lieu of providing volunteer hours. These monetary contributions help and are very much appreciated by the association. And, if it is your decision to select the buy-out option, please know that you are still welcome to assist in any area.

What can you do to earn volunteer hours?

It is easy to fulfill the volunteer hours commitment. Examples include: assist as an off-field official during team games (scorekeeping, book-keeping or concessions); fill a position on the board; help with home tournaments or other activities (assessments, fundraisers, etc.). If you elect to fulfill your volunteer hours requirement with your time:

The volunteer hours requirement is per family and not per player. For all families of Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth players, not using the buy-out option, a total of ten (10) volunteer hours is required.

It is the responsibility of each family to ensure their hours are tracked and reported for review/approval. If volunteer hours are not completed in full, you will receive an invoice for the buy-out fee. Failure to pay the fee can result in the family being blocked from registration for the following season until the balance due is paid.

MBA cannot operate without the help of everyone who volunteers their time. Except for the umpires, everyone involved in our league is donating their time.
